Ballet

Ages 3+

Ballet is the foundation of everything else we teach. Dancers learn placement, turnout, port de bras and musicality in a progressive program that starts with creative movement for our youngest students and carries through advanced classical training.

Ballet Questions

Does my dancer need ballet before other styles?

It isn't required, but it helps enormously. Ballet builds the strength, alignment and musicality that make jazz, lyrical and contemporary come much more easily, which is why most of our dancers take ballet alongside their other classes.

How many classes a week should we start with?

One class a week is a perfect start for a new dancer. As they progress into intermediate and advanced levels, most dancers add a second ballet class or a companion style.

When do dancers move up a level?

Placement is by instructor recommendation rather than age alone. We look at technique, strength and readiness, and we'll always talk it through with you before a move.
